Manchester City always believed Oscar Bobb would be ready to play under Pep Guardiola this season – even when he was signed in 2019.

That is according to The Athletic.

So, what was said about Oscar Bobb and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 20-year-old has taken a significant step up in his development this season.

Bobb made his full debut for Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Third Round defeat to Newcastle, while he also made his senior debut for Norway in a recent 4-0 win over Cyprus.

Thanks to Manchester City’s data model, the treble winners always thought the Oslo-born wonderkid would be ready this season, and they were spot on.

The Athletic believe Manchester City hand out very, very detailed development plans to young recruits, clearly displaying pathways and predictions for the age in which they should be ready for senior football.

It is said that Manchester City felt Bobb would be ready to play under Guardiola this season, even when he was signed from Vålerenga back in 2019.

That data tool clearly works to perfection, as the Manchester City No.52 has now broken into the senior setup at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City have a lot of faith in Oscar Bobb

By the sounds of it, Manchester City have very high hopes for Bobb.

It was even said that Guardiola decided to let Cole Palmer join Chelsea due to the fact those inside the Etihad Stadium felt Bobb was now ready to play, which speaks volumes about the club’s trust in him.

So far this season, the City Football Academy graduate has made three appearances in the Premier League, one appearance in the UEFA Champions League and one in the Carabao Cup.

Hopefully, Guardiola can find room to give the precocious Bobb much more playing time throughout the 2023/24 campaign.
