Manchester City’s academy has become well-known for producing top talent.

Phil Foden starred for Man City in the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday, with the Englishman being the biggest success story the Manchester club has ever produced; however, there is a host of others, with the likes of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Michael Olise, and Jadon Sancho all being City academy graduates.

The Premier League giants have added four new stars to Pep Guardiola’s squad this summer, but the Manchester club have also been investing in younger players, with Man City very close to signing the highly-rated midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg.

Thursday has been a very busy day for City when it comes to youth acquisitions, as they have made progress on luring three youth stars away from their Premier League rivals.

Man City closing in on Aston Villa talent Freddie Lawrie

Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday morning that Manchester City are closing in on 15-year-old Kaylum Moss from Liverpool, and the Premier League club don’t seem to be stopping there.

According to The Athletic, the Manchester club are also close to signing Freddie Lawrie to their youth ranks, who will move when his scholarship forms expire at Aston Villa.

The 16-year-old is most commonly deployed in central midfield, but has also operated at centre-back for his national team.

Aston Villa were said to be keen on keeping the youth star and even made him a strong offer to stay; however, Lawrie has opted to move to Manchester City, who will now have to pay their fellow Premier League side compensation for the midfielder.

With the two youth stars closing in on switches to the Etihad Stadium, it is now being reported that a third youth talent could also be about to join them from Tottenham.

Tottenham’s Dexter Oliver in talks with Manchester City

In addition to Moss and Lawrie, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Man City are advancing towards a deal for Dexter Oliver from Tottenham.

The transfer expert wrote on X: “Understand Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign talented midfielder Dexter Oliver from Spurs. Negotiations are beginning to advance with a clear strategy to develop top young players.”

Changes seem to be taking place at all levels of the Manchester club this summer, and everyone associated with Man City hopes they are setting them up for many more years of future success.
