Manchester City have been linked with a move for Joshua Kimmich, although any move is far more likely to happen in the summer – and signing him could be of great benefit to Rico Lewis.
It was reported last week that City were strongly considering a move for the Germany international in the summer, when his market value will be considerably lower. Apparently, Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the star, with whom he has previously worked at the Allianz Arena.
At the moment, it is thought Kimmich is valued at around £50 million.
In the summer, when he will only have a year left on his contract, he would be worth around half that figure.
Over the weekend, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Kimmich will not be going anywhere in this current window, which is no real surprised considering his importance to Bayern.
But hopefully, City will indeed swoop in the summer and land themselves a world-class player – and a top example to Rico Lewis in the process…
Man City signing Joshua Kimmich could help to make Rico Lewis even better

Currently on social media, there are very few City fans opposed to this potential signing.
It seems there is a widespread feeling that Kimmich would be an amazing signing for City and it’s difficult to argue against that.
This is a player who has been one the standout performers for Bayern for years, and he has been hugely influential in their dominance of the Bundesliga.
£323,000-a-week star Kimmich has clocked up 367 appearances for the Bavarian giants so far since signing for the club from RB Leipzig in 2015, and has won no less than 20 trophies during his time at the club, including eight league titles and one Champions League.
There is no doubting Kimmich’s talent and stature in the game – he is one of the best holding midfielders in the world and also one of the best right-backs when he occasionally plays there. According to Transfermarket, he’s played 231 games as a holding midfielder and 111 games as a right-back, which means he is vastly experienced.
Kimmich’s familiarity and quality in both these positions potentially make him the absolutely perfect mentor for City youngster Rico Lewis, who has established himself as a serious talent since making his debut at the start of last season.
Like Kimmich, Lewis also plays in midfield and at right-back, so you would imagine the teenager could learn a huge amount from the 28-year-old if he was his teammate.
In theory, this would then develop and prepare Lewis to become a nailed-on starter at the Etihad around his mid-twenties or perhaps a little earlier, once Kimmich is in his thirties.
