Manchester City have not only made a number of big signings for the first team, but they’ve also been busy strengthening their academy ranks of late.

On Thursday, Fabrizio Romano reported that Man City are closing in on the signing of Kaylen Moss, a midfielder in Liverpool’s academy.

Later on in the day, it was reported that Tottenham’s Dexter Oliver and Aston Villa’s Freddie Lawrie are also making progress towards moving to City.

Now, it has been reported that Manchester City and Liverpool are in the race to sign one of Fulham’s most talented youth players.

The player in question is Seth Ridgeon, a 16-year-old midfielder who plays for Fulham’s academy.

According to The Secret Scout, both City and Liverpool are monitoring Ridgeon’s situation, with his contract expiring this summer.

However, the race is open, and no decision has been made yet, according to the report.

What Seth Ridgeon could bring to Manchester City’s academy

City’s academy enjoyed a great 2024/25, with the Under-21s winning the Premier League 2 title and the Under-18s winning the Under-18 Premier League North.

Their ranks are set to be bolstered by some more of England’s top talents, and Ridgeon looks like he’d fit in well at City’s academy.

Ridgeon’s last season saw him split his time between the Under-18s and the Under-21s, and he looked a cut above among his peers in both age groups.

Ridgeon has also won eight caps for England’s Under-17s, scoring once.

“Based on his talent and how highly he is rated by coaches at club and international level, Ridgeon has all the potential to be Fulham’s brightest academy prospect of the 21st century,” Fulhamish wrote of Ridgeon last year.

“The versatile midfielder loves to control games from a range of positions in the middle of the park, equally capable of dictating from deep or chipping in with goals from further up the field.”
