Manchester City fans can’t believe what they’re seeing after Premier League make announcement

Manchester City and their fans have been used to success over the last decade.

The Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium has been a rich one as City have won every trophy possible under the legendary coach, which also includes hitting a 100-point season, winning the treble, and winning all four domestic trophies in one season.

As a result, that has seen the players in Guardiola’s squad nominated for a variety of individual awards. Last season was a phenomenal one for Man City stars as Phil Foden won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, while Rodri was crowned the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.

The 2024/25 campaign has been an underwhelming one for Man City, and an announcement the Premier League has made reflects this.

No Man City stars nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Season

The Premier League have just announced their nominations for their Player of the Season award, and for the first time since the 2016/17 season, Man City have no players in contention.

Liverpool dominate the list with Ryan Gravenberch, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk viewed as the favourites to win the award.

Arne Slot’s men will be challenged by Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, plus Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.

Erling Haaland has stated that Man City’s season has not been good enough, and that is a view fans of the Manchester club seem to share.

Supporters of the Manchester club have been reacting to this news from the Premier League, and none seem to be surprised, although there have been shouts for one player in Guardiola’s squad.

Man City fans think Josko Gvardiol should have been nominated

It has previously been stated by Man City fans that Josko Gvardiol is their Player of the Season, and some were surprised that the defender was not included in the Premier League’s list, although the majority agree with no City stars being included.

One Man City fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “I think Gvardiol should be there but fairs.”

A second City supporter added: “Gvardiol should be one”.

Others were not surprised by the news, with a third Man City fan writing: “After this season, not surprising”.

Another season may have seen Gvardiol in with a shout, however, Man City have not been good enough overall, which has a big impact on how individuals at the Manchester club are viewed.
