This week has been a big one for both Manchester City and Puma.

Having taken over from Nike as the Manchester club’s kit manufacturer in 2019, it was announced this week that Puma have agreed a new 10-year deal with Man City, which will see the Premier League club earn a massive £100m per year from the deal.

Man City fans were not happy about the Puma news as they feel that their kits over recent years have been underwhelming; however, they will enjoy the fact that their new deal will see the Manchester club earn more per season than rivals Man United will from Adidas.

Following this major news, a new announcement has just been made, and it is fair to say Man City fans are loving it.

Man City reveal their away kit for the 2025/26 season

Man City have announced their away kit for the upcoming season, with the Manchester club releasing an all-black design that takes inspiration from the Premier League club’s oldest-known kit, combined with metallic details to celebrate their timeless essence.

The Manchester outfit have described it as a “bold” tribute to Man City’s earliest known kit, which dates back to 1884, when the football club was based in Gorton.

Speaking to Mancity.com, Marco Mueller, PUMA’s Senior Director of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel, seemed very proud of what the German manufacturer came up with for the players to wear away from the Etihad Stadium this season.

“Reimagining Manchester City’s oldest-known kit was a special honour for us, not many people would know that black was the original colour of the Club, and we love to celebrate the culture and identity of our Clubs and what sets them apart,” Mueller said.

“Being able to bring an all-black kit was exciting and gave us the opportunity to do something new with the Away jersey. Another first is that this is the first time PUMA has ever shot a campaign fully in black and white, which really ties in beautifully to the design of the kit.”

Man City fans were delighted with last season’s away kit, and it seems that they share the same feelings about their new black jersey.

Man City fans are very happy with their new away kit

Following Man City’s reveal of their new away kit on Friday morning, fans of the Manchester club have been reacting to the design, and the majority are very pleased with what Puma came up with for the upcoming season.

One Man City fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Heritage vibes with a fresh twist—love it!”

Another City supporter reacted to the new design by stating: “From 1884 to now… the legacy lives on. What a tribute.”

A final fan of Man City added: “Ok Puma, credit where it’s due. That’s an absolutely stunning kit.”

Man City will debut their new away kit against Palermo at the Renzo Barbera Stadium on Saturday, 9 August, in the only pre-season friendly the club has announced so far.
