Manchester City want to sign Sam Curtis, but the Citizens have to beat Manchester United among other clubs.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who has claimed interest in the St Patrick’s Athletic defender from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa as well.
So, what is being reported about Manchester City and Sam Curtis? Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, according to TEAMtalk, Manchester City are interested in signing Sam Curtis from St Patrick’s Athletic in the January transfer window.
The report has claimed that City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, have already made contact about signing Curtis.
The Citizens are reportedly set to make a move for the 17-year-old right-back in January.
However, City are not the only club who are keen on the youngster. TEAMtalk has claimed that Manchester United are also in contact over a potential deal for the right-back.
Everton, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield United, Hull City and Middlesbrough are interested in Curtis, too.
Sam Curtis a potential successor to Kyle Walker at Manchester City
Manchester City are reportedly looking for a young right-back as a long-term successor to Kyle Walker.
And, perhaps Sam Curtis could be that player.
There is speculation that City want to sign Reece James from Chelsea. The Citizens see him as a long-term replacement for Walker, who is 33 now.

However, 90min has reported that the 23-year-old does not want to leave Chelsea. I do not think that Curtis will have the same mindset about a potential move to City.
City are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have one of the greatest managers of all time in Pep Guardiola. I believe that Curtis would jump at the chance to move to the Citizens.
Interestingly, the right-back models his game on Reece James.
Curtis told The Irish Independent in September 2023: “I love Reece James for Chelsea
“I look at him and base my game on him, but obviously I want to be the first Sam Curtis, not the next Reece James.
“But there are parts of his game I try to implement in mine. I’m obviously young. I’m going to keep learning and hopefully I can keep getting better each game.”
Curtis made 34 appearances in the 2023 League of Ireland Premier Division. The right-back scored three goals in those matches.
