Yan Couto delivered another impressive display for Girona on Monday as he continues his strong start to the 2023/24 campaign on loan from Manchester City.
The Citizens sent the 21-year-old on loan to Girona back in July, his third temporary switch to the Spanish side.
So, how did Yan Couto perform as Girona defeated Granada on Monday? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Brazilian scored his first goal of the season in the 89th minute of Girona’s 4-2 win over Granada yesterday.
Couto now has one goal and one assist in just four appearances in La Liga this season, which is a fantastic return from a right-back.

Interestingly – according to South American journalist Jorge Nicola – Pep Guardiola believes the defender has a future at Manchester City, and feels he is capable of breaking into the first team one day.
Even in the event that Couto fails to become a regular at the Etihad Stadium, the Citizens are said to have very high hopes about him regardless, and expect to sell him for a fairly large fee if he cannot break into the senior side.
Yan Couto may soon have an opening at Manchester City
The 2023/24 campaign is an important season for Couto, as there may soon be an opening at right-back for him in Manchester.
Kyle Walker has – of course – been tied down for another three years until he turns 36, but according to Football Transfers, Guardiola is already looking at Reece James as the Spaniard prepares for life after his No.2 departs.

With Manchester City searching for right-back options, Couto has a chance to save his parent side millions if he develops into a player capable of playing regularly under Guardiola.
Hopefully, the Curitiba-born prodigy can maintain his impressive form after a strong start to the season.
