As per a fresh report, Manchester City have been offered the chance to sign a Manchester United player.

Across football, it is quite a rare occurrence for local rivals to engage in any transfer dealings.

Several players have played for both Manchester City and Manchester United — such as Denis Law, Andy Cole, Brian Kidd and Owen Hargreaves to name a few.

But only two players have directly left one of the Manchester clubs to join the other; Terry Cooke in 1999 and Carlos Tevez in 2008 — both who left United to sign for City. Gary Neville admitted that Tevez’s move to the Etihad Stadium was one that hurt him.

A report by La Gazzetto dello Sport has now disclosed how likely it is for history to repeat itself.

Report reveals how likely Man City are to sign Jadon Sancho

It has been claimed that Manchester United have offered clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea the chance to sign Jadon Sancho for a fee in the region of €40 million to €50 million (£33 million to £42 million).

However, Pep Guardiola’s side as well as the other teams United are ready to sell the Englishman to are interested in starting the negotiations with such high fees in place.

Sancho joined Manchester City as a 14-year-old in 2015 and left the club to join Borussia Dortmund two years later.

Man City do not need a player like Jadon Sancho in their ranks

Considering the 24-year-old failed to light up the Premier League for two and a half seasons at Old Trafford, the Sky Blues would unsurprisingly consider that as a red flag.

While the Camberwell-born winger remains a quality player, as exemplified by his fruitful spell at Borussia Dortmund on loan — the fact remains that he struggled in England is due to his inability to go past full-backs as well as his lack of pace —seemingly making him easy to defend against for some of the most athletic defenders in world football.

With that being the case, a six-month loan stint at Dortmund has not led to the England international completely changing as a player — meaning Manchester City would not have much of a reason to target his signature.

At City, some may argue that Sancho would perhaps be best used in central areas — where Guardiola has shown that he can get the best out of players.

But with world-class attacking midfielders like Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden at their disposal, they do not necessarily need reinforcements in this particular department. Out wide, Jeremy Doku continues to get better and better while Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Tuesday that Savio’s signing is all but official.

As a result, City have every reason to pass up on the chance to sign Sancho this summer.
