Well, it was SPORT in Spain who first revealed that the treble winners want to sign the Germany international, and are planning to make a move in 2024.
Now, Bayer Leverkusen have named their price.
TEAMtalk believe Xabi Alonso’s side are demanding £87.2m for Wirtz, who is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 20-year-old has been in sensation form this season, showing no sign of any lasting damage after a serious knee injury put a hold on his stunning breakthrough in senior football.
Wirtz has scored six goals – while also providing nine assists – in just 16 appearances so far this term.
A story from 90min add that Manchester City recently sent scouts to watch Wirtz take on TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, a game in which he scored as Bayer Leverkusen won 3-2.

Manchester City will have to make a huge statement if they want to sign Wirtz.
Should Bayer Leverkusen stand firm on their £87.2m asking price, then it would mean Manchester City would need to make Wirtz the second most expensive arrival at the Etihad Stadium behind the £100m man Jack Grealish.
The German would be sandwiched in between the England international and the £77.6m Josko Gvardiol.
It is – of course – a huge asking price from Bayer Leverkusen, although many expect Wirtz to eventually develop into a potential Ballon d’Or winner, so his frightening potential is worth investing in.
