Nathan Ake has revealed that Manchester City players recently copied something Fernandinho did back in January 2021.
The 28-year-old made the comments when speaking to the Telegraph.
So, what did Nathan Ake say? Let’s take a look…
Manchester City replicate Fernandinho meeting to save 2023/24 campaign
Well, after the Citizens embarked on a terrible run of just one win in six Premier League outings before the start of 2024, Manchester City’s leaders called a crisis meeting.
Ake said: “We had a big get together organised by the captains and we had a good talk with each other – not to hammer each other but to be honest that everyone has to look at themselves to see what we can do better, because this is not what we want.
“We want to win games and get the season going again and we had to do it now while there were still so many games to go.
“The time was still there to do it because we would rather have had the conversation then than in five weeks when we could have been even more points behind.”

It echoed Fernandinho’s decision to call a similar meeting back on New Year’s Day in January 2021 – a move which was later hailed by Ederson as a crucial moment in the 2020/21 campaign, as Manchester City then embarked on a 21-game winning streak to secure the Premier League title.
Manchester City are in safe hands
If Pep Guardiola does end up leaving in 2025 – as has been speculated – Manchester City remain in good hands regardless, with so many leaders likely to still be at the Etihad Stadium.
The likes of Ruben Dias, Rodri, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Bernardo Silva are born winners, and will not allow standards to slip even after the Spaniard has departed.

Meetings like this also breed a winning culture, so younger players such as Josko Gvardiol and Rico Lewis will surely grow to be leaders as well within a few years.
If history repeats itself, Manchester City could now storm to a fourth consecutive Premier League title after the emergency meeting.
