Manchester City and their players know what it’s like to be successful on the pitch.
In addition to being the first side to win four consecutive Premier League trophies, Pep Guardiola’s team have also won three European titles within the past four years.
Having been so successful and got their hands on so much silverware, a lot of players in the City squad have been on the receiving end of some significant praise.
However, with the Blues now on the hunt to win a fifth league title in a row, a pundit has claimed that one particular player at the Etihad Stadium doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Martin Keown dubs Ilkay Gundogan as underrated
Appearing in a recent short shared on the TNT Sports YouTube channel, Martin Keown had this to say about Ilkay Gundogan after listing his recent move back to City as the best transfer deal of the 2024 summer window.
He said: “What a fantastic player. Underrated for me and goes under the radar but has to be the best signing so far.”
Gundogan could become a key player for City again
After spending seven years at City between 2016 and 2023 as Guardiola’s first signing for the club, the midfielder made over 300 appearances before joining Barcelona as a free agent.
Spending just one year at the Spanish club, Gundogan made a return to the Manchester club last month on a free transfer.
This isn’t the first time the former Arsenal defender has spoken about the German’s return to Manchester, as Keown said that having Gundogan back in the squad will make City even tougher to beat.
Now that the pundit has claimed that he thinks the 33-year-old is underrated, perhaps this could open other people’s eyes about how good of a player he is, especially if he helps his side win more silverware this season.
