West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has said that if he played for Manchester City, he could comfortably score 30 goals.
The Jamaican international made this claim on FilthyFellas, when being quizzed about whether he could achieve such a feat at City.
Instead of dilly-dallying around the question, Michail Antonio had no hesitation in saying that he would score 30 goals at Manchester City.
Michail Antonio backs himself to score 30 goals at Manchester City
The 33-year-old’s best tally in the Premier League during his spell at the Hammers has been 10 goals.
Despite Antonio having been a quality No.9 during all these years, he is yet to even come close to Golden Boot contention, even as David Moyes’ side have been in and around the top six.
However, Michail Antonio sorely believes that if he was playing for Manchester City, he would easily score 30 goals.

“100%. It’s facts! Think about it like this. Think about all the chances that get created.”
Michail Antonio went on to explain that considering wingers put up big numbers at Manchester City, he could score 30 goals as well, saying, “But look at who was at City. [Raheem] Sterling, getting 20 goals. [Leroy] Sane, he was getting 20 goals. [Gabriel] Jesus hardly played and when he did play, he was bagging. They’ve got the opportunities to create and these people are creating for him [Erling Haaland].”
“You’ve got [Kevin] De Bruyne behind you. Man is just finding you, no matter where you are and the way they play…look at the chance they created the other day against Real Madrid. [Jack] Grealish, just picked him [Haaland] out, back stick.”
Lazy analysis from Michail Antonio
Of course, Michail Antonio would back his ability to do the business for Manchester City, which is completely understandable.
However, Antonio’s analysis of the wingers is where he is dead wrong, as it was Sterling and Sane’s elite positioning in the box and devastating ability to run in behind defences that ensured they put up big numbers.
As for Gabriel Jesus, while he did score a fair share of goals at City, it is not a surprise that his exit was not a major headline as he was simply never a clinical finisher at the club.
With the Sky Blues facing low blocks week in, week out unlike West Ham, where forwards have space to run into, unless a striker is operating at world-class levels, like the ‘very special talent’ that is Erling Haaland.
