“Must not happen”: £96m player now told not to join Manchester City

Jamal Musiala has now been told not to join Manchester City – amid reports Pep Guardiola wants the Bayern Munich No.42 at the Etihad Stadium.

It was Raimund Hinko – a journalist for BILD – who told the Germany international to avoid Manchester City.

So, what is the situation involving Jamal Musiala and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, according to Christian Falk – Head of Football at BILD – Guardiola is keen to bring the Stuttgart-born sensation to Manchester City.

A separate story from Abendzeitung claimed that the Spaniard believes Musiala can become the best No.10 on the planet within a couple of years, and he is wanted as a long term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

Now – however – the 20-year-old has been told to avoid Manchester City.

In a slightly weird, heartfelt letter, Hinko wrote: “I am writing to you, dear Jamal, because of the current situation.

“Out of deep concern that you will be lost to Bayern because they would apparently give the shirt off your back to Real Madrid, Liverpool or Manchester City in order to lure you away from Munich. That must not happen under any circumstances.

“You, dear Jamal, now have a market value of €110 (£96m) with an upward limit. There would be good business to be had there, but you would, to use Manuel Neuer’s vocabulary, rip Bayern’s hearts out.”

Very odd.

Clearly, Musiala is adored in Munich, although it is not outlandish to say that a move to Manchester City or Real Madrid would be a significant step up from the German giants.

Bayern Munich concerned about Jamal Musiala joining Manchester City

Hinko certainly sounds concerned about Musiala leaving the Allianz Arena, and Bayern Munich are too.

A story from BILD claimed that Bayern Munich are wary of Manchester City’s interest, given their financial power and also the presence of Guardiola.

That said, it would still take a huge offer to make Bayern Munich even think about selling Musiala, so Manchester City have a long way to go in this saga yet.
