Nathan Ake has admitted that he does not even “want to think” about the prospect of Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City.
After Jurgen Klopp decided to announce that he was set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, many wondered when the City boss would also choose to call it a day.
However, after the Sky Blues’ latest 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, Guardiola admitted that he could extend his deal beyond 2025, when his contract at the club expires.
Nathan Ake admits he does not even want to think about Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City
Despite having spent eight years at the Etihad Stadium, it seems like the £378,846-a-week man still has the fire in his belly to continue fighting for the biggest honours in club football at City.

When quizzed about the idea of Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City, Nathan Ake admitted he does not like the sound of that.
“I don’t want to even think about it. Obviously, it was a bit of a shock for everyone to see the news [about Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool].
“Klopp’s a very good manager and done so well at Liverpool. For the Premier League, he will be a big loss. But it didn’t change anything for us here. We are just focused on ourselves”, Ake said (via The Mirror).
Shows Nathan Ake has full faith in the Catalan boss
It is evident that Manchester City defender Nathan Ake continues to have full faith in Pep Guardiola as his manager.
Having signed for the club in 2020 and worked amidst Guardiola’s relentless demands for perfection, one would understand if a player like Ake was burnt out by his instructions, as is often the case at several teams.
But for the Dutchman especially, one would assume he must feel indebted to the Catalan boss, who made him a key member of his side last season.
Before Manchester City’s treble-winning campaign, Nathan Ake was only a bit-part player but Pep Guardiola seemed to always believe that he had the potential to develop into a world-class defender.
Guardiola’s faith in Ake has paid off and it seems like the former Chelsea centre-back wishes to continue being coached by arguably the best coach in world football.
