It has been assured that Manchester City were always likely to seal a transfer for Josko Gvardiol.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, as the youngster has been excluded from his current side’s upcoming friendlies against VV St. Truiden and VSG Altglienicke.

While it seemed like there was a degree of doubt about whether Manchester City would actually end up signing Josko Gvardiol, such hesitation has been put to bed by the Italian journalist.

Fabrizio Romano: ‘Never been in doubt’ that Manchester City would wrap up Josko Gvardiol transfer

It was reported that both clubs could finally reach an agreement over the move involving the 21-year-old on Wednesday.

Branded as an ‘elite young defender’ by WhoScored, the former Dinamo Zagreb centre-back could also sign for the treble-winners before the Community Shield, as per a latest revelation.

Now, it seems like all the question marks about whether Josko Gvardiol would end up at Manchester City have been quashed by Fabrizio Romano himself.

“Never been in doubt”, he said.

Romano also added that Manchester City and RB Leipzig are ‘ironing out the final details’ before a move for Josko Gvardiol is completed.

Further claims suggest that if all goes to plan, Gvardiol with conduct his medical on Friday, with a deal in place for £77.4 million.

Signing Josko Gvardiol indicates the long-term vision at the club

If a deal indeed goes over the line for Josko Gvardiol, that would be indicative of the long-term plan that is always in store at Manchester City.

While Mateo Kovacic’s arrival was a rare investment in a player who is currently in his prime, City tend to target players in their early 20s who can develop and grow alongside them.

Considering how accomplished Gvardiol already is, his potential coup could lead to him only getting better and better in sky blue, as he could spearhead their defence for years on end.

This very model is one of the reasons why Manchester City remain expert recruiters.
