It has been reported that Manchester City could finally reach an agreement to sign Josko Gvardiol on Wednesday.

This comes from Sport Bild after it was claimed on Tuesday by Fabrizio Romano that City were likely to sign the RB Leipzig defender, despite the delay in the potential transfer.

But now, Manchester City may have finally got their man in Josko Gvardiol, with an agreement looking like it could be struck on Wednesday.

Manchester City could seal Josko Gvardiol transfer on Wednesday

Branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Mateo Kovacic, a move to bring the 21-year-old to the Etihad Stadium has taken ages.

So much so that it was revealed on Monday that the Croatian centre-back himself was keen on talks between Leipzig and City ending on a successful note before the start of the season.

However, it has now been reported that Josko Gvardiol is ‘very close’ to becoming a Manchester City player, with there being the possibility that an agreement could be reached to sign him as early as on Wednesday.

Both clubs are working towards striking a mutual agreement as soon as possible, as it would beneficial for all parties involved to go their separate ways after this transfer is completed.

Josko Gvardiol is tailor-made to play under Pep Guardiola

If Josko Gvardiol does end up joining Manchester City, it almost seems inevitable that this signing is set to be a blockbuster success.

The highly-rated talent is the archetypal Pep Guardiola central defender, being an excellent passer, adept at carrying the ball out of the back and most importantly, being a lockdown defender.

Combining his pure defensive traits, athleticism and his on-ball expertise, Gvardiol is also well capable of playing as a left-back, which suits Guardiola’s current setup.

As a result, the pair are likely to be a duo to be feared if they join forces.
