Julien Laurens has said that Jeremy Doku could reach the very top of world football under the guidance of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The French journalist took to Twitter to give his two cents on the Rennes winger’s potential arrival, after it was reported on Monday that a deal was struck for a fee of £51 million.

Now, Julien Laurens has backed Manchester City target Jeremy Doku and Pep Guardiola to become a match made in heaven.

It seems like the Belgian international’s addition at the Etihad Stadium is close to completion, with Fabrizio Romano revealing on Wednesday that he was set to sign his contract with the English side today.

After a long summer where City have looked at a number of replacements for Al-Ahli’s Riyad Mahrez, they may have finally found their man.

Now, Julien Laurens believes Jeremy Doku would hugely benefit off working with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

“Jeremy Doku is a special talent. If Pep and City can fulfil his incredible potential, then he will become a top, top player. He is not there yet in terms of decision-making and end product, despite improving in the last 12 months. But City and Pep can take him to the next level!”, he said.

Jeremy Doku has all the raw tools to become an elite winger

Julien Laurens has a point and while soon-to-be-Manchester City forward Jeremy Doku is still quite a raw talent, Pep Guardiola is the perfect manager to help him smoothen out the rough edges in his game.

As Laurens pinpointed, Doku’s end product still requires plenty of work.

While the 21-year-old is a stupendous dribbler, he can be quite erratic in this respect as well, according to many.

Considering Pep Guardiola’s successful track record of turning young wingers into phenoms, he could do the same with Jeremy Doku.

With the youngster being a headache for defenders to deal with in 1v1 situations, one of the fastest players in the world, versatile enough to play on both flanks and adept at running in behind defences, he has all the traits to become elite in his position one day.
