Sergio Aguero’s goal against QPR in 2012 will never be forgotten by football fans, let alone Manchester City supporters.
The rattle of the net, the roar of the Etihad crowd and Martin Tyler’s famous ‘Aguroooo’ roar on commentary as the Argentine ran away in celebration.
It is regarded as the greatest moment in English football history by many, as Man City won their first Premier League crown by pipping their bitter rivals Manchester United to the post.
Conspiracy theorists have stated in the aftermath that QPR let Man City win the match once they found out they were safe from relegation and Paddy Kenny has admitted that he didn’t let Aguero’s goal in, although Bobby Zamora recently stated that the R’s took their foot off the gas.
For most Man City fans, this is their favourite moment in the club’s history. However, for Nico O’Reilly, the 20-year-old has another that tops it.

Nico O’Reilly names his favourite Man City moment
The last few weeks have been incredible for O’Reilly as the youngster has become a mainstay in Pep Guardiola’s starting 11, which is a dream for every Man City fan.
The 20-year-old is a lifelong supporter of the Manchester club and now O’Reilly is adored by his fellow Man City supporters as he can be viewed as one of them on the pitch.
Speaking to the City Magazine, the midfielder has now named his favourite moment as a City fan and surprisingly, it is not Aguero’s goal against QPR.
“I’ve supported Man City all my life and I’ve got a load of favourite games given our success over the past 15 years,” O’Reilly said.
“But beating United 6-1 at Old Trafford has to be my favourite along with Sergio’s winner against QPR back in 2012. I was only seven at the time and watched it at my cousin’s house, but I can remember it as if it were yesterday – as most City fans can!”
This day was one of the greatest days in Man City’s history and it was one of the first signs of who would rule Manchester over the following decade.
Aguero got on the scoresheet that day as well, with O’Reilly also admitting that the Argentina star was one of four heroes he looked up to when supporting the Manchester club growing up.
The Man City heroes of Nico O’Reilly
Tim Sherwood believes O’Reilly has everything to become a success story at Man City and one day, young fans of the Manchester club will start to look at the 20-year-old for inspiration, just like the midfielder did over the last decade.
The City star has now shared with City Magazine who his heroes were growing up with the 20-year-old naming Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne.
“As far as heroes growing up, I’d say my first Man City idols were Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne,” O’Reilly stated. “Players of that stature who I loved to watch and, in Kevin’s case, have been lucky enough to get to play alongside.”
All four are Man City legends in their own right having achieved incredible success at the Etihad Stadium, and one day, O’Reilly will look to join them as the 20-year-old could be one of the figures to lead the upcoming period in the Manchester club’s history.
