Manchester City attacker Phil Foden has said that there is not a single player in the world who is better at getting assists than Kevin De Bruyne.

Speaking to City’s official website, the Englishman gave his two cents on replacing the injured Belgian as his side’s attacking midfielder against Newcastle United and thriving.

Phil Foden has said that while he enjoyed the challenge, he acknowledged that Kevin De Bruyne is in a league of his own as a creator.

Phil Foden says Kevin De Bruyne is the best creator in the world

Branded as a ‘top player’ and ‘strong’ by Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella, the £51 million (Guardian) man registered a staggering 31 assists in all competitions last season.

Since joining the Sky Blues, the only creator who has been in the same realm as the 32-year-old is perhaps Lionel Messi.

Now, Phil Foden has said that while he enjoyed the responsibility of replacing Kevin De Bruyne in the side, there is no player quite like him in world football.

“I was enjoying myself out there [against Newcastle] and I had to step up.”

“You can’t really replace a player like Kevin [De Bruyne] – a player of his quality, there’s nobody in the world that makes assists like him.”

As a result, Phil Foden went on to acknowledge that it is time for the rest of his teammates to step up in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne.

“But we know we’ve still got quality players who can play inside. When big players like that are missing, the level is still the same because we’re all quality players and one of the best teams in the world, I think we showed that today.”

While the Englishman looked like the natural heir to his throne in Manchester City’s 1-0 win against Newcastle, Kevin De Bruyne well and truly is one of one.
