Pat Nevin has been speaking about Erling Haaland and Manchester City after Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
The 60-year-old made the comments on BBC Sport.
So, what was said about Erling Haaland? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the man from Glasgow cannot believe that people were doubting the Norway international after his recent run of three games without a goal.
Nevin told BBC Sport: “It happened again the other week… people started questioning Erling Haaland’s form as the goals stopped flowing for a brief moment.
“No goals in three games against Wolves, RB Leipzig and Arsenal, which included a few missed golden opportunities, started the mutterings. This happened last season too, but those doubts are bordering on nonsensical.
“Of course he misses chances, but no current player gets himself into those scoring positions more often than the Norwegian colossus. He is still the reason, above all the others, that City are favourites to win the league again.”

Spot on.
People simply love to kick success stories when they are down, and it seemed as if the wider football world couldn’t wait to take aim at Haaland after his run of three games without a goal.
These comment seemed to irk the Manchester City No.9 – he even called Norwegian news outlet TV2 “clowns” after they mocked his mini goal drought.
Manchester City have a mentality monster in Erling Haaland
It was hugely impressive to see the £375,000-a-week striker score twice in Sunday’s Manchester derby after all that has been said about him recently.

Such pressure must weight heavily on a 23-year-old at times, but it spoke volumes that he bounced back so emphatically in one of the biggest fixtures of the entire season.
Say what you want about Haaland, but nobody can argue that he doesn’t have a strong mentality.
