ESPN pundit Steve Nicol believes Manchester City would put the phone down with one second on Bayern Munich if they rang about Julian Alvarez.
In recent days, reports of interest from the Bavarian giants have surfaced again.
Bayern need a top striker, having failed to properly replace Robert Lewandowski.
They brought in Sadio Mane last year, but the club are now looking to sell the Senegal international.
Alvarez is on their radar and there has been talk of them looking to make a loan move.
In the eyes of Nicol, there is zero chance of such a move happening.
Steve Nicol feels Bayern have no hope of landing Julian Alvarez on loan from Manchester City
The Alvarez/Bayern link was discussed in a new video on the ESPN UK YouTube channel.

Nicol offered his thoughts on the situation – and gave a reaction that most City fans have probably had themselves.
He said: “If I’m Manchester City, there is not a hope that I’m letting him go on loan to Bayern Munich. Not a chance! The phone is going to be picked up and dropped back down with one second. Not a chance. Whether he wants to go, I don’t know. But I don’t think it’ll matter, because it ain’t happening.”
Despite playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland last term, Alvarez still made very important contributions for City.
He scored 17 goals in 49 appearances, and played 2524 minutes.
That is a decent return considering he’s got the world’s best striker ahead of him.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Alvarez will not be leaving City. His camp have said there is ‘no chance’ of him leaving on loan.
Bayern Munich are absolutely delusional if they think they can sign Julian Alvarez on loan
Bayern may have landed Joao Cancelo from City on loan back in January. But they will not be getting Alvarez on the same basis.
Alvarez – branded ‘amazing’ recently by chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak – may not yet be a regular starter at City, but he is going to gain prominence at the Etihad.
City know he’s got the potential to become an absolute superstar, just like Haaland.
The club are not about to sanction his exit.

Perhaps there would be something to think about if Bayern came in with an absolutely astronomical offer and Alvarez actually wanted to depart so he could play a bit more.
But if Bayern genuinely think they can sign Alvarez on loan then they are delusional.
Who knows why they would think City would agree to that.
