Jamie Carragher says Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes should have done better for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson’s goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the popular pundit had his say on the £35 million (Eurosport) man’s involvement in the strike as the game between both sides eventually ended in a dramatic 4-4 draw.

Branded as “incredible” by Andy Townsend, the 30-year-old largely had an excellent game, stepping up to the plate on several occasions for the visitors with clutch saves at Stamford Bridge.

However, as Conor Gallagher rifled in a shot from outside the box, the Brazilian international managed to parry the ball in Nicolas Jackson’s direction, who scored a tap-in to level the scores at 3-3 at the time.

As Manchester City eventually shared the spoils with Chelsea on Sunday, Jamie Carragher believes Ederson was at fault for the Senegalese international’s strike.

“It’s a really good strike from [Conor] Gallagher but it’s not great from Ederson – he has pushed it right into the danger area. Game on again!”, Carragher told Sky Sports during the contest.

Ederson had a rare off moment

While Jamie Carragher may have a point, Manchester City No.1 Ederson showcased against Chelsea for the most part why he remains one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

However, during a game where the Sky Blues were uncharacteristically out-of-sorts at the back, the treble-winner too had a moment to forget.

At the end of the day, footballers are human and the best of the best are allowed to slip up.

Especially since last season, Ederson has proven that his shotstopping is right up there amongst the elite goalkeepers in Europe.

Simply put, the five-time Premier League winner’s error exemplified a common theme from the clash; even Manchester City can be imperfect once in a while.
