‘Not in the game’: Talksport pundit notices a problem with 23-year-old Manchester City player

Manchester City are not having the best of times at the moment, and one of the players who is seemingly off his game is Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland is (arguably) the best striker in the Premier League and is a key player at Manchester City.

Haaland has scored eight goals and given one assist in eight Premier League matches so far this season.

However, the 23-year-old striker has not scored in his last three matches in all competitions.

Haaland was quiet against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and then on Sunday, the Norway international simply could not trouble the Arsenal defence.

City lost against Wolves and also went down to Arsenal.

Alan Pardew verdict on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland

Former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Alan Pardew has noticed a problem with Haaland at the moment.

The talkSPORT pundit believes that the former Borussia Dortmund striker is not getting involved in games and is looking detached.

Pardew said about Haaland on talkSPORT: “Funnily enough, right at the end he gets involved with someone on the sidelines as he’s walking off the pitch.

”Actually on the pitch, he looked unemotional at times, you know, like he wasn’t in the game.”

The pundit added: “Sometimes when you are a striker, I’ve had many strikers over the years that come to me and say ‘it doesn’t feel like I was in the game, gaffer’, you know, ‘I didn’t get enough of the ball’.

“You kind of get emotionally detached and I think that’s where he is with City at the moment. He looks like he’s not in the game enough to bring the best out of him.”

My View: Erling Haaland will get back to scoring ways soon

In my opinion, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will start banging in the goals for fun again.

While the striker has not been at his best in recent games, we cannot expect the Norwegian to score two or three goals in each and every match.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Craig Dawson played the game of his life against Haaland (okay, slight exaggeration there), while Arsenal stopped the City attacking players from supplying the right balls to the striker.

And, Kevin De Bruyne was missing as well.

Perhaps the Belgian midfielder’s precise passes would have helped Haaland bang in a goal or two.

Haaland is one of the most lethal strikers in the world, and I am confident that he will start scoring for City after the international break.
