It has been reported that Manchester City expect Bernardo Silva to extend his contract and put an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Monday that the £43 million (BBC Sport) man was willing to pen a new deal due to Barcelona delaying their approach to sign him due to their financial woes.
Now, it seems Manchester City are privately confident that Bernardo Silva could sign a brand-new contract after all.

Branded as an ‘elite player’ by The Athletic, the 28-year-old seemed destined to leave the Etihad Stadium in the ongoing summer window.
Especially considering that the Portuguese international had won the treble with City, it seemed like the perfect time for him to sign off on his time at the club on the highest of highs.
But that may well not be the case, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Manchester City back themselves to tie the versatile attacker down to a new contract.
“Now I can tell you that the official proposal to the extend the contract of Bernardo Silva, so a new proposal from Manchester City is already in Bernardo Silva’s hands. He received the contract proposal from Man City. There are different formulas for a new contract with different details.”
The Italian journalist went on to reveal where Bernardo Silva stands about extending his contract with Manchester City, saying, “Bernardo is taking his time, together with his agent, Jorge Mendes and together, with his family to decide on this contract. But City are very confident that they will receive an answer very soon and to get the new deal done for Bernardo. So, the conversation is advancing for Bernardo to extend the contract.”
Pep Guardiola and Co. would be buzzing if this indeed comes to fruition as Bernardo Silva is an irreplaceable cog in their squad.
