AS Monaco goalscorer Folarin Balogun has named Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland as the best striker in the world.
In an interview with ESPN FC, the USMNT international named PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as the other two elite No.9’s in the game today.
But Folarin Balogun wholeheartedly believes that Erling Haaland is numero uno.

Branded as ‘elite’ by Nike Football, the £51 million (Sky Sports) man is widely considered as the best centre-forward in the world.
Described as ‘irreplaceable’ by Gary Neville, the Norwegian international is leading the Premier League’s goalscoring charts with nine goals in nine games this campaign, coming off the back of a 52-goal season in which he won the treble.
Now, Folarin Balogun has said that Erling Haaland is quite easily the best in the world in his position.
“Of course, Haaland. People just think he scores a lot of tap-ins or a lot of goals in the box but I promise you, it’s a craft within itself just where to move and the timings so, it’s something I’m trying to improve so I’ll definitely say Haaland.”

It is a litmus test of an individual’s knowledge of the game of how they view Erling Haaland and Folarin Balogun is clearly a student of the sport.
It is easy to be dismissive of the Manchester City goalscorer due to his admittedly limited game or how he often scores his goals from inside the box.
But as Balogun explained, the 23-year-old’s positioning, goalscoring instinct and movement is remarkable, which is why he is often at the right place at the right time.
To simply not acknowledge this trait is a sign that one is failing to appreciate Erling Haaland’s magnificence.
