Alan Shearer has lavished praise upon Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes.
Speaking on BBC Sounds’ Match of the Day: Top 10 show, the well-known pundit gave his two cents on the £35 million (Eurosport) man.
Now, Alan Shearer has lauded Ederson for how excellent he is with the ball at his feet.
Alan Shearer raves about Ederson as ‘one of the best ever footballers’
Branded as ‘incredible’ by Andy Townsend, it is widely believed that the Brazilian shotstopper is the best in the world out of any goalkeeper on the ball.
In fact, there is a case to be made that not a single goalkeeper trumps the five-time Premier League winner in this respect.
Alan Shearer certainly believes so as he showered Ederson with praise.

“You’ve [Micah Richards] got one of the best ever footballers at your place, Man City. He’s as good as half the outfield players”, he said.
Ederson is the gold standard for the modern-day goalkeeper
Alongside Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Ederson, who was rightly hailed by Alan Shearer is the blueprint for the modern-day goalkeeper.
In possession, the 30-year-old is simply outstanding, capable of breaking the lines, picking out the free man with an accurate long ball and dictating the game like a deep-lying playmaker in some ways.
Managers and teams around the world that aim to play out from the back aspire to have a goalkeeper like Ederson in net who allows them to be able to integrate such a tactical philosophy without breaking a sweat.
To the extent that unless a No.1 profiles in this manner, a team cannot even be expected to play a progressive brand of football.
Ederson’s on-ball magnificence coupled with his terrific shotstopping makes him a truly elite goalkeeper and one that must be the envy of oppositions across the globe.
