New Manchester City signing Savio says he’s “excited to work” with someone he views as one of the best in history after completing his move to the Etihad Stadium.
Though it’s been a quiet start to the summer with most of the game’s best players representing their countries at Euro 2024 or Copa America, Manchester City have finally made their first signing of the transfer window.
The expected arrival of Savio has been officially confirmed after a deal was initially agreed back in February.
City are understood to have paid an initial £21m, rising to a potential £33.6m, according to the MEN’s Simon Bajkowski, to sister club Troyes for the exciting winger who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
Expectations are high for Savio after his sensational season in La Liga on loan at Girona last term and the Brazilian can’t wait to get going in the Premier League and work alongside Pep Guardiola.

New Man City signing Savio sends message after transfer is completed
Speaking to City’s official website Savio heaped praise on his new manager: “I’m so happy to be joining Manchester City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners.
“Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so to be here is very exciting for me.
“I’m excited about the chance to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches ever, and someone I know will help me improve even more.
“I had an amazing time in Spain and I’m looking forward to a new challenge of playing in the Premier League and alongside some of the best players in the world.
“I can’t wait to meet the fans and my new team-mates and hopefully be a part of bringing more success to City.”

What next for Savio at Man City?
Now City have officially confirmed the signing of Savio after months of speculation, what’s next for the club’s newest forward?
Well, City will soon be heading to the United States for their pre-season tour and given the bulk of the squad is still on their holidays after participation in Euro 2024, there is certainly room for the 20-year-old to get some action.
Savio has just competed in a major tournament himself, though, after playing for Brazil in Copa America so he is justified to his own time off and may not make the trip on Friday
However, it does appear Savio will be following in the footsteps of fellow South American Julian Alvarez and joining the first-team squad straight away rather than being loaned out.
