Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Girona starlet Savio on a permanent deal this summer.

It was a quiet January window for City, with no new signings coming in for right now. Argentine youngster Claudio Echeverri was announced, but he will stay at River Plate for the time being.

Recently though, City have been linked with a move for Troyes youngster Savio, who has really impressed over in La Liga while on loan at Girona this season.

The Brazilian youngster has scored seven goals and made seven assists so far this season, and speculation has been rife that he could be on the move soon.

And it looks as though he could possibly join City in the summer, with journalist Fabrizio Romano providing a big update this evening…

Romano, who is arguably the most reliable journalist in the game when it comes to transfers, has dropped a huge update this evening, just before City play Brentford in the Premier League.

He wrote on X: “Manchester City agree deal to sign Sávio from parent club Girona in the summer. Documents to be signed in the next days. Despite bids from German and English clubs, Sávio will join #MCFC.

“He’s now 100% focused on Girona to end the season in the best way.”

Romano had reported a couple of months ago that City did ‘expect’ to sign Savio.

Of course, Girona are owned by the City Football Group, and many have anticipated that this would give City an advantage in any race for Savio.

Exciting news

This is a big update from Romano, about a player City have been linked with for quite a while now.

Savio has been lighting up La Liga this season and appears set for a very bright future.

It was perhaps only a matter of time before news would arrive of a move away for him, and it looks like City have won the race.

It would certainly be an exciting capture if it happens. Because it’s been reported previously that Real Madrid feel like he could have followed in the footsteps of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.

Hopefully, there will be some more updates on Savio soon, with Romano suggesting that documents are to be signed in the coming days.
