Darren Bent has admitted Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the one player today he wishes he could play with.
City fans have been starved of the Belgian’s magic this season with the attacking midfielder having been sidelined through injury.
De Bruyne hobbled off in City’s opening game of the season against Burnley with a hamstring issue, which mirrored the Champions League final against Inter.
De Bruyne underwent surgery, and has not been able to feature since trudging off at Turf Moor. He is expected to return to action in early 2024.
City have managed well without De Bruyne so far, but fans would still love for him to return as soon as possible given his incredible quality.
That quality is certainly not lost on former Premier League striker Darren Bent…
Darren Bent says Man City star Kevin De Bruyne is the one player he wishes he could have played with

Bent appeared on the FilthyFellas YouTube channel this week and was asked who he thinks is better out of Luka Modric and De Bruyne.
Bent actually plumped for Modric, stating that the Croatian had won a Ballon d’Or and multiple Champions Leagues.
But the former striker did say: “I’ve never played with KDB, and one player I wish I could play with today would be KDB.”
With Bent having been a striker in his playing days, it is little wonder he would love to play with De Bruyne, who is pretty much a striker’s dream.
The 32-year-old has made 153 assists in 358 appearances for City, and that figure might well have been a lot higher considering just how many chances he creates in games.
De Bruyne will be an all-time great
There is no doubt that when he comes to hang up his boots, De Bruyne will be talked about as an all-time great in the game. Micah Richards reckons he’s well on the way to becoming the best midfielder the Premier League has ever seen.
What he does on the football pitch is truly special and at times unique.
It is remarkable to think that some questioned City paying £55 million for maestro, because that looks like a serious bargain today.
Bent is not the only former Premier League player to admit they would love to play with De Bruyne – Thierry Henry, arguably the greatest player the division has ever seen, also said he would have loved to play with him, calling him ‘incredible’.
