Oscar Bobb now has a full season of experience under his belt as a senior Manchester City player.
Last season saw the 21-year-old appear in 26 games for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.
His most notable moment of the campaign came when he scored a dramatic late winner in City’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
With the winger now gearing up for the 2024/25 season, he has now shared some significant praise for one member of the squad he has played with and had to come up against at the training ground.

Oscar Bobb says Nathan Ake is the toughest Man City player to come up against in training
When asked in a recent video on the Rising Ballers YouTube channel who the toughest player to come up against in training is, Bobb had this to say in response.
He said: “Who challenges me the most? I’d say as an attacking player, it’s tough to come up against certain defenders so I’d say Nathan [Ake]. Probably the best one-v-one defender I’ve seen.”
Ake is a top defender for City
City signed the Dutchman from fellow Premier League side Bournemouth back in the 2020 summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £41m.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Ake has made 125 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, chipping in with 10 goals and two assists.
Looking back over the previous Premier League season, the 29-year-old ended the campaign with the third-highest percentage of dribblers tackled (65%) in the City squad.
This backs up what Bobb said about Ake being particularly strong defensively when coming up against individual opponents in one-v-one situations.
In fact, the Dutchman has also been praised for his defensive presence in the air by Stefan Ortega
In our view, with Bobb having such a tough opponent in training such as Ake, this will ultimately help him when coming up against other players in actual games.
