As Manchester City defeated Copenhagen 3-1 on Tuesday night, Gary Lineker was full of praise for Phil Foden.
Foden had a huge part to play in City’s victory in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
The Englishman set Kevin De Bruyne’s opener up with a sublime assist in the 10th minute of the encounter.
Gary Lineker hails “outrageously brilliant” Phil Foden as Manchester City beat Copenhagen
However, the £225,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man was far from done when it came to having a say on proceedings at the Parken Stadium.
In the 92nd minute, the 23-year-old got on the end of a cut-back from Kevin De Bruyne to slot the ball into the back of the net as well.
With Manchester City winning in solid, if not spectacular fashion against Copenhagen, Gary Lineker reserved special praise for Phil Foden.

“Very comfortable victory for Man City, wrapped up by the outrageously brilliant, Phil Foden”, he wrote on X after the clash.
As Rio Ferdinand perhaps rightly pointed out, the Stockport-born attacker has been the Sky Blues’ “go-to guy” this season as he continues to showcase in virtually every outing for his boyhood club.
Phil Foden was a joy to watch
Gary Lineker rightly summed Phil Foden up as “outrageously brilliant” as he was one of, if not the best player on the pitch for Manchester City against Copenhagen.
Even aside from his goal and assist, Foden was a thorn in the hosts’ side from minute one.
Starting in a traditional right-wing role, the treble-winner caused the Danish side plenty of problems, as they found it a challenge to lay a glove on him, primarily due to his technical mastery.
Be it in wider or even in central areas from time to time, Phil Foden’s first touch, clever passing, astute link-up play and speed of thought made him a nuisance for Jacob Neestrup’s side.
