Jeremy Doku truly announced himself as a Manchester City player in yesterday’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth – and a very impressive statistic about the Belgian has now emerged.

The 21-year-old was the star of the show against the Cherries at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The youngster was preferred to Jack Grealish out wide – and Doku well and truly justified his selection, playing a part in five of City’s six goals.

Doku has really been impressing in recent weeks. But this felt like the game where he truly announced himself as a Manchester City player.

The £55 million signing from Rennes was absolutely electric, and the Bournemouth players really struggled to contain him.

Even Cherries boss Andoni Iraola admitted after the game that Doku caused his side to suffer.

It was a seriously productive afternoon for the youngster in terms of goals and assists and now a very impressive stat has surfaced…

Yesterday, Doku got four assists. Three of them were ‘proper’, and one was a shot that took a small deflection off Manuel Akanji.

It is not very often at all that you see one player setting up so many goals in one match.

In fact, only seven other players in the history of the competition have managed to make four assists in one game (via the Premier League).

The last player to achieve the feat was Paul Pogba for Manchester United against Leeds United in the 2021/22 season.

Harry Kane, Santi Cazorla, Emmanuel Adebayor, Cesc Fabregas, Jose Antonio Reyes and Dennis Bergkamp are the other players to have bagged four assists in a game.

According to Squawka, Doku is actually the youngest player ever to record four assists in a single Premier League.

He is also the youngest player ever to be directly involved in 5 or more goals in a single Premier League game.

An amazing performance

This was arguably one of the best individual displays from any player in the Premier League this season.

BBC pundit Danny Murphy called Doku ‘absolutely sensational’ against the Cherries and it’s amazing that the winger is now part of a very exclusive club with his haul of four assists in one game.

It is all the more impressive as well when you consider he is still only 21 years old, and this was just his sixth Premier League start.

If this is the level he is showing right now, imagine what he could be like in just a couple of years.

He is a frightening prospect. Jack Grealish most definitely has a battle on his hands for that left wing position.
