Manchester City beat Newcastle United 3-2 yesterday in the Premier League – and former striker Paul Dickov said that one player actually made him laugh in the game.
City took three huge points at St. James’ Park, with Kevin De Bruyne coming off the bench for City to inspire a comeback.
The Belgian scored an equaliser in the second-half, before laying on an assist for Oscar Bobb in injury-time.
It was a stunning cameo from a world-class player, and most of the talk has been about his return to Premier League football and how he can now significantly boost City’s title credentials.
That has meant that Bernardo Silva, who scored a sensational goal in the game, perhaps isn’t quite getting as many plaudits as he should. But Dickov made sure to heap praise on him…
Paul Dickov says Bernardo Silva’s goal vs Newcastle was so good it actually made him laugh

Bernardo got the ball rolling yesterday when he turned in Kyle Walker’s fizzed cross from the right.
He got across his man and flicked the ball through his own legs and into the far corner, giving Martin Dubravka no chance.
Micah Richards felt that it was the best goal of the game, and Dickov was left in awe of the technical brilliance on show.
He said (via mancity.com): “It was ridiculous! And what makes it even more ridiculous is that it’s with his weaker foot.
“That skill in itself, getting a backheel as the ball’s whipped across to direct it into the goal is hard enough if it’s on your good foot is hard enough never mind if it’s on his bad foot.
“Phil [Foden] and [Jeremy] Doku started wide but they’re playing so narrowly that Kyle has been playing as a winger and [Josko] Gvardiol on the other side looks as though he’s playing as a winger. That allowed us to outnumber Newcastle in the middle of the park.
“But that finish is outrageous. I just started laughing, I didn’t know what else to do. We all know how talented he is but that was ridiculous.”
Bernardo is laughably good
There are probably many City fans out there who probably had the exact same reaction as Dickov to the special goal Bernardo Silva scored against Newcastle.
Sometimes, the Portuguese magician just does things on a football pitch that are so good you have no choice but to actually just laugh.
The £43 million star’s goal against Newcastle was of the very highest quality and of course, it’s not the first time we’ve seen Bernardo score a special goal this season. His sublime second goal in the 6-1 win over Bournemouth earlier in the season was another incredible piece of skill, with Pep Guardiola saying it was like something you’d seen from Lionel Messi.
It is difficult to sum up with words just how good a player Bernardo is and what a relief it was that he stayed for another season at the Etihad.
