Manchester City are just days away from embarking on yet another Premier League campaign.

In addition to winning a sixth top-flight title in seven years, Pep Guardiola’s side also became the first team to lift four consecutive Premier League trophies at the end of their previous campaign.

To do so, City won 28, drew seven and lost three of their 38 league games, finishing with 91 points on the board, two above Arsenal in second place.

Now that the 2024/25 season is about to get underway, one pundit and former top-flight star has shared his thoughts on which sides he thinks will be fighting it out for the title this time around.

Paul Merson shares Premier League title prediction

While previewing and predicting the scores for this weekend’s round of opening Premier League fixtures, Paul Merson had this to say in a recent column for Sportskeeda about how he feels the upcoming title race could pan out.

He said: “Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are my favourites to make it to the top three this season, I can’t look past Man City to win the league title yet again and if Erling Haaland is able to stay fit and play 20 games, he’ll win the Golden Boot.”

City will be facing another tough title test

Given how close it was between City and Arsenal at the top of the league table last season, it’s safe to say that the Blues are likely to be facing another challenging title race.

In fact, Mikel Arteta said last month that City have raised the bar so high in terms of what it takes to win a title that the only way his side can topple Guardiola’s side is by winning all of their 38 games throughout the campaign.

With the opportunity of making even more history by winning a fifth consecutive Premier League title on the line this season, City will undoubtedly do all they can to keep their winning streak going.
