Manchester City have proven over the last four years that they have the best squad in England.
Having become the first side to win four consecutive Premier League trophies last season, Pep Guardiola’s side undoubtedly have the strongest crop of players in the country.
This has proven to be the case so far this season as the Citizens have landed wins against Chelsea and Ipswich Town in the Premier League this time around.
After seeing the champions win their opening two matches of the new league campaign, a pundit has highlighted two particular players in the City ranks he thinks give the Blues a special partnership on the pitch.

Paul Merson hails Man City’s midfield duo of Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri
While sharing his prediction for City’s match against West Ham in his latest column for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson had this to say about Ilkay Gundogan and his midfield partnership with Rodri.
He said: “Ilkay Gundogan is now back at City and it’s a great signing in my opinion. Gundogan and Rodri in the middle of the pitch feels like a cheat code.”
Gundogan and Rodri have a good connection
Merson isn’t the only pundit and former Arsenal star to share his thoughts on the German’s return to the Etihad Stadium, as Martin Keown recently said that City signing Gundogan back has made them even more difficult to beat.
After spending seven years at the Manchester club, Gundogan left to join Barcelona as a free agent last summer.
However, the midfielder recently returned to City on a free transfer earlier this month as Merson mentioned.
Out of the 305 games he’s played for the Blues prior to today’s away match at West Ham, 150 of them have been with Rodri.
This highlights the experience they have in midfield together and why Merson thinks having that partnership back again is significant for City, especially given the number of titles they’ve won together.
