Jose Mourinho is very familiar with facing off against Manchester City.

Specifically, the 61-year-old has taken on City 23 times in total across all competitions for the various clubs he’s managed in his career.

In fact, Mourinho has only managed against Manchester United (24), Barcelona (27) and Liverpool (31) on more occasions than Pep Guardiola’s outfit.

Having managed Chelsea, United and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Mourinho is now in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce.

With his current team set to take on United in the Europa League on Thursday, the three-time Premier League winner has made an interesting claim about the Manchester club’s alleged 115 financial breaches.

Jose Mourinho makes big demand about Man City’s 115 charges

Speaking in a recent press conference ahead of Thursday’s showdown with United, the former Red Devils manager said this about whether he may be awarded the Premier League title after finishing second behind City in the 2017/18 season while he was in charge.

He said: “That was a difference in relation to me, we won the Europa League and finished second in the Premier League.

“I think we still have a chance to win that league, maybe they punish Manchester City with points, we win that league. They have to pay me the bonus and give me the medal.”

Mourinho thinks Guardiola ‘laughs’ at other Premier League clubs

Looking back to the 2017/18 season, City had one of their biggest achievements under Guardiola as they became the first and only side to win 100 points in the Premier League to secure the club their first top-flight trophy in the Catalan’s reign.

As for his United side, they came second in the league table as Mourinho has mentioned now, finishing 19 points below the Citizens.

Back in June, when asked what sort of shape some of the big six Premier League clubs were in at the time, Mourinho said this about how Guardiola feels about his City rivals.

He said: “I think in this moment, Pep [Guardiola] laughs [at all] of the mess of all the other clubs.”

Despite that, Guardiola won’t be laughing at the fact that his club are in a court battle with the Premier League about alleged financial breaches.

However, he may laugh at the prospect of Mourinho looking to be given a win bonus for coming second against a far superior side who have been adamant no financial wrongdoing has taken place.
