Pep Guardiola admits he actually has a ‘delusional’ Man City prediction despite Liverpool loss

Manchester City’s latest 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield was another demonstration of how much his team is struggling for form.

Over the past few years, Pep Guardiola’s men have shown time and again that especially in potential Premier League title deciders, they have a tendency to get over the line.

But Manchester City were well beaten by Arne Slot’s side, who were the superior team out of the two from the first whistle.

Jeremy Doku’s reaction to Manchester City’s loss on Sunday was to promise the Sky Blues supporters that the team will not “stop working” to improve.

Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias’ argument just 14 minutes into the clash suggested that even some of City’s biggest names are perplexed as to why they find themselves in such a rut.

Jamie Carragher’s prediction about Manchester City after their disappointing defeat against Liverpool was that they are only going to be in a quest to qualify for Champions League football this season.

Pep Guardiola’s ‘delusional’ claim after Liverpool vs Man City

The Premier League champions have lost four league games in a row, dropping down to fifth place after Sunday’s result.

However, Pep Guardiola is confident that despite Manchester City’s latest disappointment against Liverpool, his team will start winning games now.

Guardiola said via journalist Simon Bajkowski: “Call me delusional but I have the feeling that from here, we will start to build back to winning games and confidence.”

Ahead of the contest, Guardiola insisted a win against Liverpool would also have not guaranteed that his Sky Blues side had returned to their brilliant best.

Pep Guardiola gestured to Liverpool fans that he had won six Premier League titles as Manchester City boss after they mockingly chanted, “You’re getting sacked in the morning” during the game.

It’s safe to presume that the Catalan boss was in a defiant mood despite the nature of City’s result and performance against the league leaders.

Based on Manchester City’s upcoming list of fixtures, one does wonder where Guardiola’s confidence stems from.

Teams like Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Everton are all well capable of pulling off an upset against City in their next five games.

Admittedly, at least Pep Guardiola and Co have already faced some of the league’s best teams like Liverpool and Tottenham in recent weeks.

Ruben Dias told Manchester City fans that now is the time for the players and the supporters to back the club and the project as much as possible.

Perhaps Pep Guardiola believes that he has seen enough from his Manchester City side in terms of their mentality and displays to suggest that they can go on a winning run.
