Pep Guardiola delivers frustrating injury update ahead of Man City vs Tottenham

Manchester City have dealt with various injury issues throughout the 2024/25 season.

In addition to Oscar Bobb picking up a serious injury before the Premier League campaign started, Rodri suffered a season-ending injury back in September.

With City losing their four previous matches before the November international break, their injury and fitness issues undeniably played a part in this poor run of form.

Now that the break has ended, Pep Guardiola’s side will be back in action on Saturday as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad Stadium for their first Premier League meeting of the season.

Ahead of this crucial game, Guardiola shared an update concerning the fitness of one particular figure in his squad that no City supporter will be pleased to hear.

Pep Guardiola shares injury update on Mateo Kovacic

When asked in his recent press conference if any City players who were in action for their countries over the international break had come back injured, Guardiola revealed that Mateo Kovacic picked up an injury that could now see him be out of action for a month.

Kovacic will be a big miss for City

After playing 90 minutes in Croatia’s 1-0 defeat to Scotland last week, Kovacic was subbed off at halftime in their 1-1 draw with Portugal on Monday.

This season has seen Kovacic start 12 of the 15 matches he’s appeared in across all competitions, competing the full 90 minutes on 10 occasions.

Taking that on board, it’s safe to say that the 30-year-old is a key figure for the Blues and will therefore be a big miss for them over the coming weeks he’s out of action.
