Pep Guardiola’s career at Manchester City is legendary.
The Spanish coach arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2016 from Bayern Munich and the impact that had on the Bundesliga club was recently revealed by Thomas Muller.
Guardiola has won every trophy at City, accumulating six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, a Champions League, a Club World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
Having signed a new Man City contract until 2027 this season, the legendary coach plans to add to his trophy haul over the coming weeks, but the 54-year-old has now revealed what he will do once his current deal with the Manchester club comes to an end.

Pep Guardiola is ready for a break after Man City
This summer is crucial for Guardiola as the Spanish coach will recruit and plan for his final stint at the Etihad.
Premier League champions Liverpool expect Man City to bounce back next season as Guardiola will want to end his time at the Manchester club on a high and leave it in good condition for the next manager to take over.
2027 will be the Spaniard’s final year at Man City as the 54-year-old has now told ESPN that he plans to take a break once his contract expires in Manchester.
“After my contract with City, I’m going to stop. I’m sure,” Guardiola told ESPN Brasil as part of the second series of “Premier League Encounters” on Disney+. “I don’t know if I’m going to retire, but I’m going to take a break. How I want to be remembered, I don’t know.
“All coaches want to win so we can have a memorable job, but I believe that the fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City had fun watching my teams play. I don’t think we should ever live thinking about whether we’re going to be remembered.”
| Club | Matches | Wins | Draws | Defeats | Points per game | Palyers used |
| Man City | 524 | 377 | 66 | 81 | 2.28 | 96 |
| Bayern Munich | 161 | 124 | 16 | 21 | 2.41 | 44 |
| Barcelona | 247 | 179 | 47 | 21 | 2.36 | 57 |
Guardiola continued by saying: “When we die, our families cry for two or three days and then that’s it — you’re forgotten. In the careers of coaches, there are good and bad ones, the important thing is that the good ones are remembered for longer.
“I’ll tell you that the most important thing is not what people think of you, after all, our lives as footballers have been very good. There are new challenges as a coach, I don’t know what will happen in the future and in the end that doesn’t matter.”

Learning from Man City’s difficult 24/25 campaign
This season has been a difficult one for many reasons at Man City after the Manchester club rested on their laurels when recruiting last summer, which was emphasised further when Rodri suffered a season-ending injury.
Guardiola also played a part in the Manchester club’s struggles; however, in recent weeks, the legendary coach has started to find solutions and the result has been an undefeated run of eight games.
Speaking to ESPN, the Man City boss has admitted that he has learned from his mistakes this season and he knew a drop off would come at some stage.
“It was a year of great learning,” Guardiola said. “There is not just one reason why this year was difficult, there are many details, like wrong decisions made for me. So, it has been a year of great learning for me, personally.
“People think we learn more from defeats than from victories. But I also think I learn from victories. I knew there would be a moment when we would fall, but we fell a lot. We didn’t expect to be so far, but we can’t win them all.
“What we did during 10, nine years was exceptional, but now we have to sit down and learn to try to understand what we need to produce in the future.”
Change is coming to Man City this summer as Guardiola looks to significantly strengthen his squad and fans of the Manchester club hope the decisions made will return them to the top of the Premier League.
