Pep Guardiola has suggested that he would love for Erling Haaland to stay at Manchester City for another 10 years.
Interestingly, Jesse Marsch, who managed the Norwegian at RB Salzburg believes he will sign for Real Madrid one day.
Despite Haaland being tied down to a contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, Guardiola was bombarded with questions about whether he plans to extend his deal.
Pep Guardiola suggests he would love for Erling Haaland to stay at Manchester City for another 10 years
Ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming away trip to Brentford, the £51 million (Sky Sports) man’s future emerged as the biggest talking point during the press conference.
Pep Guardiola was initially quizzed about whether talks have begun to tie Erling Haaland down to a contract extension.

He replied (via HaytersTV), “I don’t know.”
The reporter asked, “No knowledge of that?”
Guardiola said, “No.”
Pep Guardiola was asked about whether the reported interest from Real Madrid in signing Erling Haaland will accelerate contract talks with him.
“I don’t know. I’m not involved in that. Always the desire, the player, the club, he wants to stay, he wants to leave so, I don’t have info. So, he arrived last season, the impact was incredible, the beginning of the season, the numbers were really good too, have two months injured so what happened in the future, honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know”, he said (via HaytersTV).
“We are happy to have him, hopefully, he’s happy to be with us, that is what we know and the rest, I don’t know. We cannot control what the people say so it’s normal.”
Pep Guardiola was questioned about whether he would be encouraging Manchester City to kickstart the talks around a new contract with Erling Haaland, considering all he has accomplished at the club already.
“What do you think? That we don’t want Erling [Haaland to] stay here for one decade? No, honestly.”
“So, do you want him? Yes, yes, yes, for a long time in this club. For a long time. We are in love with him. We want him.”
The public declaration from the Manchester City boss could prove key in Erling Haaland contract talks
The fact that one of the best managers in the history of football in Pep Guardiola expressed his desire for Erling Haaland to prolong his spell at Manchester City could spur him on to extend his contract.
Haaland is a superstar but Guardiola is a legend of the game and as a result, perhaps the former may be driven to continue working with the great man at the Etihad Stadium.
In one way or another, the Spaniard has put his cards on the table and the ball remains in the Norwegian striker’s court, whenever the contract talks begin about whether he is open to putting pen to paper or if a change of scenery in the future already tempts him.
