As Manchester City gear themselves up to lock horns against Atletico Madrid, we have tried to call their predicted lineup.

After the treble-winners beat Bayern Munich 2-1 on Wednesday, we expect Pep Guardiola to make as many as four changes to his side.

Manchester City predicted lineup vs Atletico Madrid

Starting in net, Stefan Ortega could come in to replace Ederson against Atletico Madrid, considering the latter seems likely to start in the Community Shield against Arsenal.

At right-back, Kyle Walker could be replaced by Rico Lewis, who was the clear standout performer for his side against Bayern.

John Stones could also be given a breather, with Manuel Akanji slotting in for him in our Manchester City predicted lineup against Atletico Madrid.

Alongside him, Ruben Dias seems likely to retain his place in the XI for Sunday’s contest.

At left-back, Aymeric Laporte could be rewarded with a start, due to Nathan Ake’s injury and also because he scored a late winner against Thomas Tuchel’s side.

In defensive midfield, Mateo Kovacic, who Phil Foden lauded after the contest while speaking to the official Manchester City website could keep his place up against Atletico Madrid.

Despite playing out of position, the Croatian certainly looked right at home.

Bernardo Silva also seems like a likely inclusion in the Sky Blues team, except for the fact that instead of at right-wing, he could play in midfield.

Joining the Portuguese attacker could be James McAtee, who opened the scoring against Bayern Munich, bagging his first senior goal for the club.

Branded as ‘special’ by Pep Guardiola, Cole Palmer could be given a shot at right-wing in our predicted lineup against Atletico Madrid.

Julian Alvarez, who has also started both games in pre-season could be set for a hat-trick of starts on the weekend.

The same could be the case with Jack Grealish.
