Photo: Pep pulls £129m City star aside for private chat in FIFA Club World Cup training, does not look happy

Pep Guardiola is a man often known to drag his Manchester City players aside and give them an enthusiastic verbal lecture.

The Spaniard even did this to an opposition player once when he bizarrely gave Nathan Redmond a coaching lesson on the Etihad Stadium turf back in 2017.

It’s clear that Pep Guardiola is a passionate perfectionist – and Manchester City No.47 Phil Foden has now appeared to receive the latest of his intense chats…

Pep Guardiola spotted in discussion with Phil Foden

Well, images from Manchester City’s training base in Saudi Arabia have emerged, and there were some interesting photos of the 52-year-old speaking to the England international.

As you can see below, Guardiola was engaged in a seemingly heated conversation with Foden at the club’s base in Jeddah – ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Urawa Red Diamonds.

Of course, it is impossible to know what was said, although the body language on show is interesting.

Interestingly, the first image shows Guardiola adopting a quite aggressive stance, with his eyes bulged and hands up in complaint as he gets in the face of Foden.

The second photo then shows intense eye contact, before the final image seems a little more relaxed – although the £129m man does now look a little sheepish, like a child who has been told off.

Phil Foden will be eager to impress for Manchester City

Foden doesn’t have anything to prove to anybody at Manchester City, although he will surely be keen to play a huge role at the FIFA Club World Cup after Saturday’s nightmare against Crystal Palace.

The 23-year-old began that fixture superbly, teeing up Jack Grealish for the opener with a fine assist.

However, Foden faded as the game went on, and eventually lost Manchester City two points with that wild swing of the boot on Jean-Philippe Mateta, which handed the Eagles a late penalty.

Guardiola’s intense chat may have been inspired by that careless moment, and hopefully, the Manchester City No.47 can put it behind him with some inspirational FIFA Club World Cup displays.
