James McAtee raves about Phil Foden after Manchester City beat RB Leipzig
Branded as ‘unreal’ by Rio Ferdinand, the 23-year-old opened the scoring for City, getting on the end of Lewis’ inch-perfect cutback to slot the ball into the back of the net with his weaker right foot.
Aside from the goal as well, the treble-winner ran the show as a left-sided advanced midfielder, stitching the attack together, dropping deep to provide control and also taking up wider areas to create chances.
After Manchester City defeated RB Leipzig, James McAtee had one word to sum up the Phil Foden masterclass, commenting, “Player.”

Short and sweet but the silky midfielder summed up the world’s thoughts that witnessed Foden bossing proceedings.
Phil Foden has started the season brightly
James McAtee would also attest to the fact that the Manchester City attacker has kickstarted the season in fine form, as was evidenced against RB Leipzig.
Playing in a more central role this campaign, the 23-year-old has justified the clamour around him playing in the middle of the park by putting consistent performances in week in, week out.
While Foden was viewed as the natural heir to De Bruyne after his injury, he has shown that he is capable of thriving deeper as well.
In some ways, the Englishman could be likened to Ilkay Gundogan in that he is comfortable playing as both as a No.8 as well as behind the striker.
All in all, Phil Foden looks like he could have the season of his life.
