Valentin Barco has now decided to join Manchester City in 2024 – with Pep Guardiola hoping to wrap up a deal in January.
That is according to Football Transfers.
So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Valentin Barco? Let’s take a look…
Valentin Barco chooses Manchester City
Well, there was talk of Brighton potentially signing the 19-year-old.
However – according to Football Transfers – Barco is now adamant that he wants to join Manchester City.
It is said that the Argentina Under-20 international’s representatives recently visited the Etihad Campus to check out Manchester City’s facilities, and a deal is likely to happen in January.
Boca Juniors have been unable to negotiate a fee with Manchester City as Barco has a fixed €10m (£9m) release clause written into his contract.
Football Transfers believe Liverpool also showed an interest in the South American, although the teenager has chosen Manchester City.

Guardiola is believed to want reinforcements down the left flank, and Barco is able to play at left-back or as a left-winger. The Argentine can even play in central midfield.
Therefore, it is no surprise to see Football Transfers compare him to Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Barco scored one goal and provided four assists in 32 appearances for Boca Juniors last season.
Valentin Barco has the approval of Sergio Aguero
Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has already given Barco his seal of approval.
During a Q&A session on Twitch, the 35-year-old said: “Very good player. Is he going to last a little longer at Boca or not? I don’t think he’ll last long. He’s very good. (Manchester) City will surely take him.”

Aguero’s prediction has seemingly now come true.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Barco is expected to become a Manchester City player in January – he could, however, be sent on loan to Leicester immediately.
