The Premier League have now made a surprise decision involving Manchester City after the FIFA Club World Cup victory in Saudi Arabia.
A double from Julian Alvarez and a strike from Phil Foden – who also forced Nino into an own goal – helped the Citizens record a 4-0 win over Fluminense in Jeddah.
So, what shock decision have the Premier League made after Manchester City lifted the FIFA Club World Cup? Let’s take a look…
Premier League make surprise decision involving Manchester City
Well, we previously explained here on Manchester City News how Pep Guardiola’s side would not be allowed to wear the gold FIFA Champions Badge in the Premier League.
The Premier League denied Liverpool and Chelsea the chance to wear the FIFA Champions Badge throughout the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign and the 2021/22 campaign respectively, as kit changes during the middle of a season are banned, as detailed by Football London.
Or – at least – were banned.

In a shock development, Manchester City confirmed in an official statement after the FIFA Club World Cup win that the Premier League have granted permission for the FIFA Champions Badge to be worn for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
Manchester City can also wear the gold emblem in the UEFA Champions League – UEFA have never had an issue with the FIFA Champions Badge, and always allow the FIFA Club World Cup holders to proudly show it off.

The Premier League allowed Liverpool and Chelsea to wear the FIFA Champions Badge once and once only – so Manchester City are actually the first English side to receive the privilege of keeping it for more than one league game.
Common sense prevails after FIFA Club World Cup glory
We are delighted the Premier League have made this U-turn, as it has always felt strange to know the organisation did not want one of their own clubs to show off the fact they are World Champions.
Now – however – the Premier League have seen sense, and Manchester City will proudly wear the FIFA Champions Badge in Wednesday’s clash against Everton at Goodison Park.
