Jurgen Klopp has recognised Manchester City as an incredible team while discussing his stint as Liverpool boss.
Klopp acknowledged the challenge his side have had in terms of going toe-to-toe with City to win the Premier League for the past couple of years on The Sky Sports Football Podcast.
In December, Pep Guardiola named the former Borussia Dortmund tactician as the toughest manager he has come up against in his career so far.
Jurgen Klopp says Manchester City are “the best football team for decades”
The German coach was quizzed about how proud he is of everything he has achieved during his spell at Anfield.
Since joining the Reds, the 56-year-old has managed to guide his side to winning every single major trophy after replacing Brendan Rodgers in 2015.
Now, Jurgen Klopp has admitted that it has been quite a challenge to compete at the top with a team as magnificent as Manchester City.

“Pleased, a lot. Proud, not so sure. We did some good stuff and it’s pretty special what the boys did in this time because coming second, as close as we were twice behind probably the best football team for decades is an achievement”, he said on The Sky Sports Football Podcast.
“For sportspeople, not for the people from the outside world, outside, I know that but it’s fine. We stretched ourselves to try to be as close to our limits as possible.”
A testament to the legendary Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium
The fact that an iconic figure like Jurgen Klopp even admits that Manchester City are a legendary side just goes to show that it is impossible to deny the greatness of this team.
Perhaps one reason why it seems like Pep Guardiola’s side do not get the plaudits they deserve is because their dynasty is yet to come to an end.
Despite having won three Premier League titles in a row and after having looked worse for wear off the back of their treble-winning season, Tony Cascarino still believes City will be crowned the champions of England once again.
The Sky Blues have made perfection a habit and as a result, it seems like as time passes, many will start to recognise that their era of dominance under Pep Guardiola is rare in sport, let alone just football.
