Manchester City have signed numerous players from a range of clubs across Europe in recent years.
For example, Pep Guardiola’s side have secured deals for the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku, Ruben Dias and Rodri among others from various sides outside of the Premier League.
In this current summer transfer window, the Blues have once again been linked with transfer moves for a range of names across the top five European leagues.
One of those names, however, has been the topic of conversation with one pundit and former top-flight player sharing his astonishment at the links to the Manchester club.

Shaka Hislop baffled by Man City’s transfer links to Gianluigi Donnarumma
After it was recently reported by journalist Ben Jacobs on his official X account that City have approached Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma over a potential transfer move, Shaka Hislop had this to say on the matter in a recent video shared on the ESPN FC YouTube channel.
He said: “Donnarumma doesn’t fit at all, particularly his mistakes and his high-profile mistakes and how they came for PSG and it’s nine times out of 10 when the ball is at his feet.
“So, for me, Pep Guardiola going after Donnarumma makes absolutely no sense.”
Donnarumma to City – yes or no?
In 114 appearances for PSG, the 25-year-old has kept 39 clean sheets and conceded 113 goals since arriving from AC Milan back in the 2021 summer transfer window.
Across the 25 Ligue 1 games he featured in last season, the Italian faced 110 shots on target, saving 89 of them, leaving him with the highest save percentage (84.5%) in the division.
While Donnarumma has proved himself to be a capable shot-stopper, the fact that Hislop has highlighted the issues the Italy international has had in terms of making mistakes when the ball is at his feet could be a problem in terms of City potentially adding him to their squad.
