Pep Guardiola is preparing to take on his ninth season as Manchester City’s manager.
Having taken the reins at the Etihad Stadium back in 2016, the 53-year-old has lifted many trophies including six Premier League titles.
With Guardiola only having one year left on his contract at the Manchester club, there remains a possibility that this upcoming campaign could be his last at City.
Now, however, the Spaniard has been touted by one former top-flight player and coach to potentially take a new job in the near future.

Kevin Nolan urges England to appoint Pep Guardiola as their new manager
When asked in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel who the next England manager could be following the departure of Gareth Southgate, Kevin Nolan had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Now, I think we need to probably go to the next level and I think the only next level is we’ve got to go and get Pep or [Jurgen] Klopp. We’ve got to go and get one of them.
“It’s one of the most prestigious jobs in the whole world and Pep said he’d love to manage England. [He’s] earned enough money in the world. Why wouldn’t he go? Because they’ve got probably the best crop of youngsters now coming up?
“He’s done it all with Man City so who’s next? He’s been [to] Barcelona, Bayern Munich. What’s next? Man City, what one’s next?
“Look, we can dream and you asked me a question who’s the next one and that’s what I’m like, we’ve got to go all out for this guy.
“He’s got one year left on his contract, Man City are in problems with what’s coming up with the FFP and stuff. Can we get to a solution where if he becomes England manager, what does that say to everybody across the world?
“Not only that, I think he will relish it because of the people he’s going to be able to work with.”
City should offer Guardiola a new deal to ward off England interest
Taking into account how successful Guardiola has been in England, coaching some of the country’s best players, it comes as no surprise that Nolan has urged the FA to launch a move to appoint Guardiola as Southgate’s replacement.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the FA could be willing to appoint an interim manager for the next year and then make an approach to Guardiola about the role if he doesn’t sign a new deal with City.
Given how much of a key figure the City boss has been in terms of the club’s success over the past eight years, we feel that it would be disastrous if the club failed to get Guardiola to sign a new contract and extend his stay at the Etihad.
