Paul Dickov had plenty of praise for Phil Foden after his majestic display for Manchester City in their 3-2 victory against RB Leipzig.

On City’s official full-time show on their YouTube channel, the pundit discussed Foden’s breathtaking equaliser, his technical brilliance and his overall contribution on Tuesday night.

After the contest, Jeremy Doku summed up the 23-year-old’s heroics by simply commenting, “class” on his post-match Instagram post.

Paul Dickov praises Phil Foden after Manchester City stage comeback win against RB Leipzig

In October, it was reported that Pep Guardiola internally felt that the £225,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man was ready to replace the injured Kevin De Bruyne.

As the Englishman started in a left-sided attacking midfield role, he proved Guardiola right, putting in an absolute masterclass, as he was involved in all of City’s three goals on the night.

With Manchester City securing their position as the winners of Group G in the Champions League against RB Leipzig, Paul Dickov only had good things to say about Phil Foden.

“Just pure, natural ability, isn’t it? He doesn’t have to think about it, he knows exactly what he’s doing. Great ball into him again [by Josko Gvardiol] but yeah, the touch and the turn is just world-class”, Dickov said about Foden’s goal on City’s official full-time show.

“And then, the ball across and Alvarez [scores], the two players we’re talking about. I think, Phil, two assists.”

“Fantastic goal and well-deserved.”

Phil Foden showed signs of building a dangerous partnership with Erling Haaland

Paul Dickov was right to have hailed Phil Foden, who was arguably the standout player for Manchester City against RB Leipzig.

But, in our view, an intriguing takeaway from the clash was how well the England international linked up with Erling Haaland on the night.

Often, the Norwegian striker makes the perfect runs but is not found by his teammates.

However, even during a subpar first-half performance from the Sky Blues, Phil Foden managed to find Erling Haaland in dangerous areas.

RB Leipzig’s watertight defending meant none of the opportunities led to goals until the silky technician’s sublime turn and through ball led to Haaland doing what he does best in the 54th minute.

If Phil Foden continues to operate in midfield, a deadly duo involving him and Erling Haaland could be in the works.
